Cardiology is the area of medical practice dealing with disorders of the heart, be it human or animal. The specialty includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Physicians who specialize in this field of medicine are called cardiologists. Physicians who specialize in cardiac surgery are called cardiac surgeons.
Cardiovascular disease (also called heart disease) is a class of ailment that involves the heart and the blood vessels such as arteries, capillaries, and veins, or both.
Cardiovascular disease refers to any disease that has an effect on the cardiovascular, principally cardiac disease, vascular diseases of the brain and kidney, and peripheral arterial disease.
