Spine surgery may become a necessary option when conservative treatment such as medications and physical therapy fails to reduce or to diminish symptoms.  Among the condition that back surgery is offered to includes:

 

  • Herniated disc,
  • Scoliosis,
  • Kyphosis
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Spinal cord injuries.

 

Spine surgeries are offered include but not limited to:

 

  • Decompression: Also known as laminectomy, this procedure is for the removal of parts of the back bone to relive pressure on the spinal nerve or spinal cord.
  • Spinal Fusion: This procedure is the joining of two or more vertebrates, so they heal into a single bone and increase spine stability.
  • Discectomy: This procedure is performed for the removal of herniated or degenerative disc.

 

PROGRAM:

 

Evaluation, Surgical Programs And Laboratory Tests:

 

Evaluation:

 

  • Initial evaluation, consultation, clinical history review and compiling of medical records
  • Medical consultation with specialists in orthopaedics specialist
  • Medical consultation with specialists in anaesthesia
  • Medical consultation with rehabilitation specialist

 

Laboratory tests and research

 

  • Clinical laboratory research tests and analysis of the following:
  • Urinalysis tests
  • Creatinine test
  • Glycaemia test
  • Haemoglobin test
  • White Blood Count (WBC) test
  • Erythrocyte Sediment Rate test
  • Sediment Rate test
  • Blood Group and RH Factor test
  • Serology VDRL test
  • HIV test
  • Bleeding time tests
  • Blood Gas Analysis (2 tests)
  • Leukogram test
  • Erythrocyte test

 

Imaging:

 

  • Electrocardiogram investigation
  • Chest X-RAY
  • Vertebral CT scan
  • Lumbar spine simple X-RAY (6)

Surgical:

 

  • Operating room
  • Anaesthesia (TIVA basic);
  • Surgery (simple lumbar discectomy);
  • Use of navigator in operating room;
  • Ostesynthesis material
  • Intensive care unit (1 day)
  • Hospital accommodation (8 days)
  • Monitoring and evaluation

 

Accommodation:

 

  • Private room with the following features:

 

  • Electronic patient bed
  • Equipment for disabled patient
  • Oxygen hookup
  • Three à la carte meals taking into account the patient’s preferences and / or special diets prescribed by physician
  • Fully equipped private bathroom
  • Infirmary and nursing care
  • Colour TV with national and international channels
  • Local and international phone services (extra cost will apply)
  • Safety box
  • Internet service on every floor
  • Laundry services

 

Please note the following important information:

 

  • The above program does not include medications for certain conditions such as depression, blood coagulation, etc.
  • Medicaments, fluids, blood and derivatives to be used, as well as additional procedure(s) performed not included in the knee replacement program would be invoiced separately on upon the conclusion of said treatment / procedure(s)

 

Additional services included in the program:

 

  • Local airport pickup and drop off;
  • Hospital pickup and drop off (if needed)

 

Notes: An additional 100 CUC per day for a companion will be combined with the total cost of the program should a companion accompany the patient and will include accommodation, 3 daily meal plans, pick and drop off from/to airport for the companion.
